I had a very pleasant run on Tooting Bec Common yesterday morning. The leaves have started to turn those gorgeous autumnal shades of copper that New England is famous for, but you can also find here. The sun was shining and it is still warm enough to feel like late summer. I had chosen a random “genius” mix on my iPhone to run to, and when Sheryl Crow’s “Every day is a winding road” (not a song I usually rate so highly, but it just seemed to fit the moment) started up after 7 km, with the last 3 km still to go, I just couldn’t stop smiling as I ran. I’m not sure if it was the weather, the scenery, the soundtrack or the endorphins, but runs like that make up for all the winter evening runs in the dark and the rain. The picture was taken just when I finished the run.
